Reflections on a Blackout

An electricity Blackout is an underestimated disaster scenario and represents the greatest risk of a systemic crisis in Europe or parts thereof. Even after a power outage lasting only 24 hours, the supply of essential goods will be disrupted for at least one week, a blackout lasting more than 2 days will disrupt normal live for two to three weeks, one week will unsettle our lives for months!
Our industry needs to cope with this issue and not close our eyes to the inevitable. Such a crisis can only be managed if information and involvement is started at an early stage, always in the hope that we will never need this knowledge. We are all challenged, no matter in which role: as parents, family, neighbours, employees, bosses or EPDA as a trade association.
Nick Kraguljac involved in an Austrian task force (Industry, including power generation, Military and police, Infrastructure – streets, trains, air as well Administration of public institutions) working on how to raise awareness, prepare systems and “good practice” in case of a Blackout.
During the EPDA online coffee morning session starting at 10:30 CET on Wednesday 28 September 2022 Nick Kraguljac will give a presentation on this topic.
The EPDA continues its new series of online informal discussions for EPDA members. The meetings are open to all members to get together to discuss topical issues and benefit from one another’s friendship and counsel. The meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month on a bi-monthly basis.
We will spend time in facilitated discussion groups addressing a current relevant topic and there will be time at the end of the meeting for members to catch up informally with each other if they do not need to rush off.
There is no charge to attend this event but prior registration is required.
