Plastics Education

EPDA provides various educational resources for training plastics professionals and OEMs on plastics. The association’s alliance with IAPD, the International Association of Plastics Distribution, enables EPDA to offer its members access to a broad range of technical resources, webinars, publications, and other programs and services. Below are examples of the resources available, many of which are accessible to EPDA members only.

Introduction to Plastics

Introduction to Plastics is the one reference tool every plastics professional should have at their fingertips. It examines the basic behaviours and properties of plastic materials and their varied uses. It also includes both ASTM and ISO standards as well as a directory of trade names, a comprehensive glossary and detailed property tables for easy reference.  Originally published in English by IAPD, this training manual is now available from EPDA in German, French, and Italian. Download order form.

Material Property Tables

These downloadable property tables provide an at-a-glance reference to the physical, mechanical, frictional, thermal, and electrical properties of more than 30 plastics commonly used today. They also include references to applicable standards (ASTM, ISO, UL). These tables are also included in the translated editions of Introduction to Plastics. Download tables.

Thermoplastics Rectangle

The Thermoplastics Rectangle published by IAPD is an easy-to-use, one-page tool that simplifies the material selection by breaking plastics into categories based on key characteristics. Manufacturers, distributors, OEMs and anyone else who participates in the material selection process will find this tool indispensible. Download rectangle.

Articles

This site provides access to articles about plastics applications as well as articles published in IAPD’s bi-monthly magazine, The IAPD Magazine. Share these resources with others in your company and with your customers as a value added service.

Webinars

Seminars presented on the website are an affordable, convenient method for learning about plastics. If you are unable to attend the live presentation you may listen to a recording at your own convenience.
