PERSPEX® IN THE PINK
Ladies in Pretoria, South Africa, who want to experience a new
concept in beauty salons can now enjoy beautiful surroundings whilst
they are pampered — thanks to a stunning new installation
using Perspex® Frost.
I Make Up is a new concept in beauty studios, which offers ladies
the opportunity to relax in soft, stylish and feminine surroundings,
while they enjoy beauty treatments.
Designer Marlene Vorster wanted to achieve a new look for the
studio and contacted Lucite International in South Africa for advice
on how best to achieve the combination of soft femininity and chic
modernity. Working together with Project Manager Harm Steyn and
Pretoria-based sign makers Sign by Sign, they created the new interior.
Perspex ® Frost in Polar White was used to create clean subtle
lighting around the mirrors. The same material was also used for
the floor level lighting tubes, but using pink fluorescent lights
added a funky feminine edge.
The beauty studio officially opened at the end of 2006, and the
response from the owner and clients alike has been excellent — the
soft, clean feminine design looks great, not only during the day,
but also stands out beautifully at night, too.

QUINN PLASTICS ADDS SPLASH OF COLOUR
Quinn Plastics has announced the introduction of six new colours
to its portfolio of CAST DESIGN products, bringing the number
of colour specifications available to 18. The new colours are
Mexican orange (light orange ice), village green (light green
ice), Nordic blue (ice blue), parma violet (light violet), petra
rose (magenta ice) and glacier green (transparent green).
Quinn CAST DESIGN products are known industry-wide for being hard-wearing
and for their ability to endure markings caused by fingerprints,
while still being soft to the touch. In addition to offering a clean
and modern finish to in-store displays and signage, the products’ textured
surfaces reinforce brightness and subtly filter light. The introduction
of the new range of colours will further allow designers to colour-coordinate
interior layouts to meet the required specifications of their clients.
"The visual communications sector is a major target area for
us and we recognise that more and more sophisticated thinking is
coming into play. For this reason, our extensive range of vibrant
and exciting colours will appeal to designers seeking an individually
tailored look to their interior and signage pieces," said Judith
Sanz, Quinn Plastics manager, Barcelona.
Quinn CAST DESIGN products are manufactured at the Quinn Plastics
plant in Barcelona, Spain, are available throughout Europe, and are
used by a number of leading European retailers to distinguish their
brand image and identity in highly competitive markets. The innovative
array of new colours will further enhance their ability to differentiate
their product and service offerings.
