SUCTION AND PRESSURE
HOSE: SMOOTH INSIDE, CORRUGATED OUTSIDE
The
UNIFLEX™ suction and pressure hose by Angst+Pfister
AG is smooth on the inside and corrugated on the outside, which
enables a very small bending radius to fit into tight installation
spaces. The smooth inner layer made of nitrile butadiene rubber
(NBR) ensures almost no loss of pressure and an easy attachment
of the fittings with the hose clamps. NBR is also resistant
to mineral, animal and vegetable oils, greases, diluted acids
and alkaline solutions. In machine engineering, this hose is
also used as intake and drainage hoses for mineral-oil based
emulsions and lubricants. Universal hoses with inner diameters
of up to 150 mm are available in stock, and larger sizes of
up to 350 mm can be manufactured upon request.
For further Information visit Angst+Pfister AG at www.angst-pfister.com.

GUARNIFLON’S G SERIES OFFERS
SOLUTIONS TO DEMANDING MARKETS
When
very critical operating conditions are present, the most common
PTFE materials and products may be not able to provide the
right solutions.
That’s why Guarniflon Spa, in its 25 years of experience
in the polymers field, has been developing a wide range of special
engineering materials and products: the filled grades of G Series
range are among the best solutions today offered by the market
to resolve tribological applications.
The capability of operating completely dry makes filled grades
of G Series the right answer for applications where lubricating
could be a tough problem (because of inaccessibility, extreme temperatures,
chemical corrosion or risk of contaminating other products, such
as food or drugs). The materials of the filled grades of G Series
range offer the best combination of properties in terms of low
coefficient of friction and high wear resistance in a wide variety
of operating situations.

PIPING SYSTEM IMPROVES HEALTH AND SAFETY
International Plastic Systems Ltd. has completed a project to upgrade the chemical
dosing pipework at a large water treatment plant.
Using DuoSafe® FLEX to handle some very aggressive dosing chemicals, the
double contained piping improves health and safety, as well as reduces the
risk of environmental contamination should a leak occur.
The system uses high quality flexible pipes that are manufactured as a double
contained system in a single extrusion process. It is engineered for applications
where long, continuous lengths of small diameter pipe is required. They are
supplied either in standard coil lengths of up to 300 meters or may be cut
to specific shorter lengths or specially manufactured in longer coils should
the job require it. Connections between lengths or at termination points are
made using a special range of rigid PVC-U fittings.
More information is available on the IPS web site at www.ips-plastics.com.

BIODEGRADABLE POLYMERS REPORT NOW
AVAILABLE
Biodegradable polymers have experienced strong growth over
the last three years and are set to make further inroads into
markets traditionally dominated by conventional thermoplastics.
Demand is being driven by a number of factors. The cost of biodegradable polymers
has come down considerably over the last three years while at the same time standard
thermoplastic prices have increased considerably. Now, some classes of biodegradable
polymers are priced competitively with polymers such as PET.
The biodegradable polymers industry itself has established an
agreed framework for testing and certification and there is growing
political pressure in developed countries to reduce packaging waste
and develop a composting infrastructure. Biodegradable polymer
producers have also invested in product and process improvements.
Finally, consumers and brand owners are beginning to recognise
the benefits of sustainable or “green” packaging.
Four main classes of biodegradable polymers are analysed in this
report, polylactic acid (PLA), starch-based polymers, synthetic
biodegradable polymers, such as aromatic aliphatic co-polyesters,
and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). The report analyses their key
performance properties, applications development, market drivers
and future prospects. Each product section also contains an estimate
of market size by world region and end-use market, plus forecasts
to 2010. There is also an analysis of key suppliers and their products.
The report is available for 528 Euro. For a complete copy of this
report go to
www.researchandmarkets.com/product/35617b/biodegradable_polymers_2006.

possible.
The European Plastics and Rubber Directory contains more than
5,000 European companies, all individually contacted annually for
up-to-date information about their business. As a result, this
Directory is the most up-to-date and comprehensive guide to the
European plastics market available.
