IPS COMPLETES DOUBLE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM
On a major refurbishment project at a large water treatment
plant, IPS supplied a range of double containment piping systems.
DuoSafe
Flex was specified to meet the installation requirements for long
pipe runs with numerous changes of direction and the minimum number
of joints. Special leak detection fittings and termination points
were also used.
CLIC pipe clamps were used extensively on the project. Clamps were
attached to cable trays to provide continuous support throughout
the flexible piping system. The CLIC system was also used to support
all of the rigid pipework.
DuoSafe rigid PVC-U double containment piping and polypropylene
piping were also used to handle a wide range of water treatment
chemicals, including sulphuric acid, sodium bisulphite and sodium
hypochlorite.
PVC-U DuoSafe piping is installed using Weld-On 724 solvent cement
and P70 primer to produce highly chemical resistant solvent cement
welded joints.
IPS was on hand to provide joining training to contractors and
to give advice on installation methods.

PERSPEX ADDS LIGHT TO YOUR LIFE
The
automotive industry is fueled by some of the most sophisticated
marketing techniques in the business, particularly so in the highly
competitive areas of corporate identity, dealership branding and
signage.
Leading names such as Renault, Nissan and Porsche all have one
thing in common — apart from being world-leading car manufacturers
— they all use Perspex® from Lucite® acrylic sheet
to promote its brand.
Porsche dealerships in Germany use Perspex® Frost as part of
the display to launch its new model Boxster.
Now Renault, part of the newly-formed L’Alliance group, a
collaboration of the Renault and Nissan automotive giants, have
chosen Perspex® from Lucite® to create the new look for
its European dealerships.
Nissan has also used Perspex® as part of its corporate resigning
programme, evidence that Lucite International offers a package of
innovation, product development and technical service benefits that
can meet the corporate identity needs for international clients
— both today and tomorrow.

NEW PLASTICS APPLIED IN MEDICINAL TECHNOLOGIES
Innovations and new developments in plastics engineering
are constantly setting new standards, and new polymers are constantly
being developed. The demands on plastics, especially in medicinal
technology or in the food industry, are constantly increasing.
Polymers,
which come into contact with human tissue or bodily fluids during
operations, must fulfill very high standards in regards to hygiene
and biological compatibility. Thanks to the new SG (Life Science
Grade) program by Quadrant AG, Angst+Pfister now offers a range
of products, which were approved and documented to meet medicinal
technical guidelines such as the USP, FDA and ISO 10993.
The range of products includes the following materials: Acetron®
LSG, PC LSG, Ultem® PEI LSG, PSU LSG, Radel® PPSU LSG, Techtron®
HPV LSG, Ketron® PEEK LSG, Ketron ® PEEK-GF30 LSG, Ketron®
PEEK-CA30 LSG, and Ketron® PEEK-CLASSIX™ LSG. .
These new plastics bring tested, semi-finished products that can
be used in medical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications
to the market for the first time.

INNOVATIONS FOR THE FUTURE — NEW
MATERIALS FOR NEW CHALLENGES
The “S”® plus+ Family, developed by Murtfeldt,
is a new group of materials designed for specific applications and
for the very highest demands. Made from high-quality UHMW polyethylenes,
they all offer individually different properties. The “S”®
plus+ Family keeps growing. Consumers’ demands help the company’s
specialists continue to develop additional members to this family.
Murtfeldt
proudly present its newest “family member”: Original
Material “S”® plus+ Bright ESD.
Bright surfaces are obligatory in many working environments because,
in line with relevant hygiene regulations, dirt and dust particles
must show up clearly. Until now, light colour and high conductivity
could not both be achieved in a single material. Now, for the first
time, a material is available which combines both properties. Thanks
to its bright colour, “S” ® plus+ Bright ESD allows
maximum control and safety in the working area.
The properties of “S”® plus+ Bright ESD are much
the same as those of Material “S”® black antistatic.
But this is the first time it has been possible to successfully
combine extremely high conductivity and a discharge of static in
a nearly white plastic material designed for use wherever hygiene
and static inhibition are required.
