INNOVATIONS FOR THE FUTURE — NEW MATERIALS FOR NEW CHALLENGES
The ‘S’® Plus+ Family, developed by Murtfeldt, is a new group of materials designed for specific applications and for the very highest demands. Made from high-quality UHMW polyethylenes, they all offer individually different properties.

The ‘S’® Plus+ Family keeps growing. Consumers’ demands help the company’s specialists continue to develop additional members to this family.

Original Material ‘S’® Plus+ ESDAnother family member is original material ‘S’® Plus+ ESD. Due to its low surface resistance, Material ‘S’® Plus+ ESD — an economical alternative to carbon filled PTFE — offers extremely high conductivity which, in turn, results in the complete discharge of any static electricity along the material’s surface, which ensures a spark-free and safe working environment. The static discharge at the surface of ‘S’® Plus+ ESD actually takes place in less than 0.1 seconds.

Electrostatic energy is produced wherever plastics slide against each other. In daily life, we’ve all experienced the unpleasant effect of an electrostatic discharge when getting out of a car. In industry, such discharges can cause substantial damage to electronic components. Thanks to its low surface resistance and its high discharge speed, ‘S’® Plus+ ESD has proved extremely successful both in the automotive and semiconductor industries, for instance as holohedral slide supports for modular link belts, but it is also ideal for use in work piece carriers for sensitive electronic components. In areas at risk of explosion, ‘S’® Plus+ ESD prevents sparking.

QUINN SPC ACCREDITED BY BBA
Quinn SPC Multiwall Polycarbonate glazing sheets from Quinn Plastics have been accredited with the British Board of Agreement (BBA) certificate. This certificate underlines Quinn’s commitment to high quality production, said a company spokesman.

Quinn SPC Multiwall Polycarbonate glazing sheets are designed for use as roof glazing in areas such as greenhouses, horticultural buildings, conservatories and as northern lights in domestic, industrial and commercial installations calling for Tp(a) classification.

QUINN SPC Multiwall Polycarbonate glazing sheets from Quinn Plastics have been accredited with the British Board of Agrément (BBA) certificate. Tests confirm that Quinn SPC sheets (16, 25, 32 and 35 mm), when used in a suitable structural specification, can resist distributed loads up to 1.5 kNm-2 and point loads up to 1.8 kN. Snow loadings for a specific structure should be calculated using BS 6399-3:1988.

When installed, Quinn SPC sheets have an acceptable maximum deflection of 5 percent and a critical deflection of 7 percent of the width of the sheet. The sheets have a good resistance to impact from hard bodies such as hailstones or impacts due to vandalism, such as, for example, objects thrown onto the roof from ground level.

Quinn SPC Multiwall Polycarbonate glazing sheets are available with 2, 3, 5 or 7 walls, or with diamond structured walls. The sheets are available in clear, bronze, opal, arctic pearl, bronze/opal and silver/diffuse grades in thicknesses of 10, 16, 25, 32 and 35 mm.

PERSPEX® FROST ON THE ROCKS
The simple yet elegant bar is constructed from Perspex® Frost Crystal Clear acrylic sheet, 20 mm thick, which uses a number of structural elements to create a unique and atmospheric effect. Finlandia vodka is renowned for its cool clean taste — a taste which is based on the northern glacial water used to make this iconic spirit.

It was the cool, clean, glacial theme which inspired MCA Architectural Studio to design a special new bar display for Finlandia vodka using Perspex® Frost as the central element of the design.

The simple yet elegant bar is constructed from Perspex® Frost Crystal Clear acrylic sheet, 20 mm thick, which uses a number of structural elements to create a unique and atmospheric effect.

The illusion of a cool North is enhanced by a photograph of an emerging ice crystal printed on a transparent foil sheet, located on the rear of the bar.

By contrast, an aurora borealis effect is created by rotating red laser beams that refract in the glass of the Finlandia vodka bottles and project onto the surface of the bar.

The striking vertical Perspex® structure is illuminated to give a glow which spreads over the entire length of the bar and creates the cool atmosphere of the northern glacier, whose water is used in the production of Finlandia vodka.

DON’T SELL THEM AND LEAVE THEM
By Roy Chitwood
Smart sales professionals know that their job does not end when the prospect signs on the dotted line. While many in sales subscribe to the “sell them and forget them” philosophy, this unprofessional attitude is not only arrogant, it shows a lack of understanding of not only the purpose of the sales process but also the true duty of the salesperson. When you allow the achievement of the sale to be the end of the relationship, you will not only produce dissatisfied customers, but you will also rob yourself and your company of repeat sales.

What appears, then, to be the end of the sales relationship with your prospect is really just the beginning — that is, the beginning of a long-term, proactive, customer needs-oriented building process toward the goal of complete client satisfaction.

Making the sale should be seen as the transition point where the prospect starts to become your long-term client. The key to establishing this relationship, and thereby ensuring that your sale wears well, is to establish that your product or service is right for the buyer and that they are happy and satisfied. While identifying your prospect’s needs is a pivotal component of the second step of the selling process, qualification, it should not end there. Long after the sale has been made, those needs must continue to be met and you must continue to investigate whether that is happening or whether those needs have changed. Your goal should be that the product or service always fits the customer’s needs precisely.
