CEPEX OFFERS CAD FILES OF ALL PRODUCTS ONLINE

Keeping to its commitment to offer new technologies, Cepex has added a free library with CAD files of all of its products in 2D and 3D to its web site.

Cepex CAD downloadsLibraries have always been recognised as exceptional productivity tools, enabling designers to work faster and more efficiently. The availability of a regularly updated and complete library of CAD models is a primary requirement for all CAD users. It is necessary that the designers themselves have direct access to all of the component and product data — rather than having to search through endless catalogues or CDs — as well as access to quick and easy downloads.

Receiving this information at the initial stages of the design process significantly reduces design and lead times. It allows designers to either finish their work more rapidly or spend more time on the truly technical decisions.

For more information and to download the files go to www.cepex.com.

COX PLASTICS SELLS LIGHTSCRIPT™ TO CINEWORLD UK

TIR Systems Ltd., a world leader in light-enabling technologies for Solid State Lighting, announced that it has received a multi-location contract through its Cox Plastics distribution partner.

The contract, with Cineworld, is the largest single customer order placed by Cox Plastics since the distribution agreement was signed in January 2005. It marks the closure of the first of a number of opportunities that Cox Plastics has identified as suitable for TIR’s products and is actively pursuing.

“Although the relationship is still in its infancy, I am encouraged with the teamwork that won this order, and I’m optimistic that the partnership can only grow and yield further success in the future with more such orders,” said Robert Gray, Director of Sales for Europe, Corporate Identity Markets.

Cineworld is the fastest growing multiplex cinema chain in the UK and had recently expanded with its purchase of the UGC cinema chain. Cineworld asked its sign company partner, Image Technique Ltd., a leading UK sign manufacturer, to find a simple but effective lighting solution to rebrand the 50 UGC sites to Cineworld colors.

Image Technique Ltd., in turn, approached Cox Plastics, who recommended TIR’s LightScript™ channel letter illumination solution. Red LightScript™ modules will illuminate the Cineworld lettering from within the channel letter units, while white LightScript™ modules mounted behind the lettering form a white halo effect to further accentuate the Cineworld branding.

“The signage market in the UK is a tough market to crack, but when you have total confidence in your products and your partners, you know these kinds of orders are going to come,” said Jamie Manifold, National Sales Manager, Cox Plastics. “We are delighted that TIR’s products are so readily satisfying a demand in the UK signage market and to have gathered so much interest and momentum in such a short time.”

ONE MATERIAL FOR ALL APPLICATIONS

Every application is different, and the technicians at Murtfeldt Kunststoffe GmbH & Co. have found practical solutions with Dialen-Lining®.

Bulk materials can behave and flow like water but can also cause severe problems, requiring new methods of flow promoting. The Dialen-Lining ® engineers are concentrating on tailor-made solutions, starting with an inspection which includes measurement of quantities, followed by material selection, up to assembly and handing over of the facility to the customer.

Dialen-Lining® combines the know-how of plant operators with the experiences of the assembly crew and the plastic specialists. The result is a well-balanced material range that offers unequalled opportunities in the market.

Starting with the all-around material Dialen®, followed by Dialen® BS — with the best sliding properties — and up to linings with Dialen® HM for low-charged plants.

The diagram, at left, shows the wear properties of different Dialen-Lining® materials, compared to common steel and other materials.

The diversity of Dialen-Lining® means there is a material for every need. For material descriptions on Dialen®, Dialen® BS, Dialen® LW, Dialen® AST or Dialen® HM, contact Murtfeldt Kunststoffe GmbH & Co. at info@dialen.de.

PERSPEX FROM LUCITE

In redeveloping their stairwells, plastic processing companies Arthur Krüger in Barsbüttel, Germany, and Findeis in Kirchlengern, Germany — independent of each other — decided in favour of a striking, attractive solution: Perspex Frost.

By using translucent materials for banisters, the entrance area is modern, bright and pleasant.

“Perspex Frost guarantees a permanent inviting entrance,” Andreas Reinhold, sales director of Lucite International, Germany, said. “Its porous-free surface area is especially easy to care for and insensitive to dirtying.”

Perspex Frost, with its matte and cool surface, is also excellent for other attractive applications in the office or living area.

UK TOPS WORLD TRADE MAGAZINE LIST OF TOP COUNTRIES FOR TRADE AND EXPANSION

The UK is the top pick for the third straight year in the World Trade Magazine’s annual survey of the leading countries for trade and expansion.

The survey provides an overview on a number of factors — domestic demand, GDP per capita, inward direct investment, political risk, stock market capitalization — that lay the groundwork for in-depth analysis of a particular country and/or region.

The country making the biggest gain on the Top 30 list was Norway. It scored high for its strong increase in domestic demand. High marks were also earned for having one of the highest GDP’s per capita in the world and low political and economic risk, corruption, inflation, and unemployment. As a whole, the Scandinavian countries are standouts this year.

Newcomers to this year’s Top 30 list are Israel, which placed 24th, and Brazil, which moved ahead of Mexico, Malaysia, Greece and China to become 26th. Both countries have been steadily building their economies and adhering to the fundamentals, and the results are evident.

Absent from the list for 2005 are Thailand, which slipped from 28 to 32 in the rankings, and the Czech Republic, which fell from 29 last year to 31 this time.
