LIGHTBEN KAOS OFFERS IDEAS TO DESIGNERS
Bencore Srl introduces Lightben Kaos and widens its products range while also offering new ideas to architects and designers.
Lightben Kaos is a variation of the Lightben panel and has a honeycomb core with cylindrical cells of variable diameter. Thanks to these characteristics and its pleasantly irregular aspect similar to natural materials, Lightben Kaos is having great success in furniture, interior design and architecture application.
Lightben Kaos is produced in the standard thicknesses of 19 and 21mm, bonding the honeycomb core to layers in Polycarbonate, PETG or acrylic in various finishing and colours.
The Lightben Kaos panel’s particular core structure creates a partial transparency which varies according to the visual angle, while the external layers allow a variation in transmittance and colour shading of the light.

GUIDE RAILS IN TWO-PART DESIGN MINIMIZE MACHINE DOWNTIMES
The problem is well-known: a chain causes wear on the plastic guide. Even if the wear is extremely low, like with Murtfeldt materials, the guides have to be exchanged from time to time. When using one-piece cage profiles, like Murtfeldt type K or CKG, the chain has to be separated and removed from the profile.
Due to this problem, Murtfeldt, the Dortmund-based specialist in the manufacturing and processing of semi-finished plastic products, has developed two new part guide rails for the roller chain sizes 16B-1 (1” x 17 mm) and 20B-1 (1 ¼ x ¾”). With them, assembly is very easy.
The advantage of these new products is obvious. There is no need to remove the chain from the profile when overhauling the guides. The exchange of the chain guide is done in a quick, clean and chain-protecting manner.
First of all, the steel backing — now offered by Murtfeldt in the two-part designs C16H and C17V — is removed. Then the two halves of the plastic guide are exchanged. The new chain guides CKG 16H and CKG 17V (for roller chains) are available as a standard in Original Material “S”® green, but can be produced out of other materials as well, in different intermediate sizes or according to specifications for round link chains and belts.
The new steel-C-backings in lengths of 2000 mm in galvanised and stainless steel, as well as the corresponding Material “S” profiles, are available from stock. Full information on these new developments is given in the company’s forthcoming catalogue.

PERSPEX® ADDS A LITTLE HEAT TO THE CHILL FACTOR
Chill Factor is the UK’s latest and most authentic indoor ski resort, based in the northwest near the ever popular Trafford Centre shopping complex.
Featuring an indoor Alpine ski village and resort with real snow Chill Factor is creating a real buzz amongst the seasoned ski fraternity, as well as those who prefer the après-ski to the cut and thrust of the slopes.
Chilli’s bar is one of the main attractions in the ski village, offering a warm and cosy retreat from the cool chill of the slopes. It is in Chilli’s that Perspex® Frost has been used in two distinct different ways.
Perspex® Frost in Chilli Red has been used in the "snug" area in the bar to help create a warm, welcoming feel. The warm red echoes the colour in the back of the bar and the narrow window in the snug. When lit, the Perspex® creates a vivid glow from outside of the bar enticing customers inside.
At the other end of the warm/cool spectrum, Perspex® Frost in cool arctic blue was used in the key viewing areas from inside the bar out to the slopes. The viewpoints continue the snow theme and have been cleverly designed and fabricated to look like igloos sitting amongst blocks of ice, with backlit arctic blue Perspex® Frost creating the effect of light breaking through the gaps between the blocks.

BENCORE INTRODUCES HEXABEN
Bencore Srl has introduced a new product in its gamma of composite panels: Hexaben panel, which was previewed during Euroshop 2008, the world’s largest and most important trade fair for the retail industry.
Hexaben is achieved by gluing two external layers of PMMA, PC or PETG to an aluminium honeycomb core. In this ultra-light panel, the highly technological honeycomb core, designed for aerospace applications, gives a great aesthetical effect to design and architectural projects.
Hexaben is produced in standard thickness 19/21 mm and the core cell can be supplied in two diameters: 1″ and ½″. The external layers are the same as the Starlight and Lightben families so the material is available in a wide variety of colours and in glossy and satin finishing.
